Hi, I'm Denis

I'm a backend and systems developer based in Astana, Kazakhstan, and a Computer Science student at Nazarbayev University. I build and operate production applications, contribute to open-source systems software, and work on scientific computing.

I'm interested in backend, systems, and full-stack roles and internships, remote or in Astana.

Production work

  • Happy End — An e-commerce platform with ~7,000 monthly users. I develop and operate it end to end, including its Next.js storefront, PostgreSQL database, PHP API, payments, and monitoring.
  • City news platform — A multi-tenant platform for two regional portals, built with Go and PostgreSQL. It includes row-level-security tenant isolation, hybrid search, a retrieval assistant, automated deployments with rollback, and observability.

Open-source contributions

  • MangoHud — Merged fixes for EGL vsync, logging, and CPU temperature handling.
  • GPUArrays.jl — Merged changes to GPU range indexing and fast-math reductions.

I also have open contributions to ROCm, gamescope, DNF5, and scientific software.

Selected projects

  • payhook — Go payments and webhooks service built around idempotency, signed callbacks, a transactional outbox, and retries. Includes a Helm chart and AWS infrastructure.
  • MusicRoomBot — Telegram booking bot used by ~200 Nazarbayev University students since December 2025. Uses Python and PostgreSQL to prevent double bookings.
  • nuclear-morphometry — GPU pipeline for 2D and 3D analysis of cell nuclei in microscopy images.
  • vbench — Measures energy, latency, and memory use for video classification on consumer GPUs.

I also work on Julia pipelines for large 3D astronomical datasets on the university HPC cluster.
