FAQ
OWOVRC may trigger a Windows Firewall dialog to open on first launch as it receives data over the network (OSC).
A firewall exception for OWOVRC is only needed when running OWOVRC on a separate device from VRChat as Windows Firewall will block incoming OSC messages otherwise.
PDB files contain additional data about a program to make debugging easier.
These files are not used by the program and can be deleted.
These files are used to store the programs settings and preferences.
While it is possible to modify them by hand, it is recommended to use the user-interface for configuration instead.
It is not advised to run applications as administrator unless absolutely required.
OWOVRC does not access any administrator-only resources and, as such, does not need to be ran as administrator.
While OWOVRC does nothing that would be considered unsafe, it is better to be safe than sorry when dealing with data produced by user-generated content -henceforth the warning.
Only applications running as administrator can receive data on ports below 1024.
This restriction is hard-coded and cannot be bypassed by running the program as administrator.
See Why is it discouraged to run the program as administrator? for more information.
By default, the My OWO App only supports one connection at a time.
The CLI Version of OWOVRC is available with native Linux support.
Unfortunately, a Linux-compatible version of the UI has not been implemented yet.
As a workaround; The Windows-Native UI for OWOVRC has been tested to work on Wine 9.18 or later.
See Running on Linux for more details.
Yes! Simply include the oscPresets.json from the application's directory which can be imported via the presets dialog.
For more information see: Importing existing sensation presets
Most vehicle implementations do not set the player's velocity values that the effect relies on.
World creators are welcome to update the values themselves or use OWO WorldIntegrator instead.
The warning "Failed to load X effect settings: file does not exist" appears on first startup as there are no saved settings to load.
This warning can be ignored if no settings have been changed.
For more information see: What are the .json files that appear in the program's directory?
OWOVRC cannot send sensations to bHaptics devices.
Avatars set up to work with bHaptics colliders will work in a limited capacity.
For more information refer to: Setting up OWOSuit colliders
Can the avatar prefabs be used with other integrations (e.g. Shadoki)?
While not guaranteed, the prefab from the Avatar Colliders Setup is compatible with Shadoki's integration.
