Justification
I led the Cisco team that designed and contributed SONiC's new DHCPv4 relay agent, replacing the legacy ISC-DHCP implementation. I authored the High Level Design and coordinated code contributions across
sonic-dhcp-relay,sonic-swss-common,sonic-buildimage, andsonic-mgmtthrough the community review process, with valuable guidance and reviews from Guohan Lu, Jing Kan, Yaqiang Zhu, and Xichen.My direct contributions span the full stack:
I continue to actively contribute post-merge — fixing issues such as the
agent_relay_modecorrectness bug across the YANG/CLI, HLD, and tests — and remain the primary point of contact for this feature at Cisco. I am currently working on bringing the DHCPv6 relay agent to feature parity with the new DHCPv4 design, including EVPN support, dynamic configuration changes without container restarts, auto-provisioning interop with the port-based DHCP server feature, debug counters, and improved scale.
