I quote an email from Hélène Cuvigny to the Papy List (papy@lists.hum.ku.dk) from Friday 8 August 2025:
I cannot remember when it happened, but some time ago, there was a change in the interface of papyri.info. There used to be a button where you could set how many lines of context you wanted around the finds. This has disappeared and one now gets only the searched word(s) and no context at all. The context was extremely useful and I would like very much to have it back. Am I the only one?
This elicited replies from Jean-Luc Fournet, Eleanor Dickey, Gabriella Messeri and Rudolf Haensch. All of them supported the desire for more context to be displayed with the hits of a search.
Josh responded with Thanks all. Development team has been alerted.
I suggest that the word should be displayed with the complete line in which it is to be found as well as the previous and following line of text.
I remember discussing this on a few occasions. I seem to remember being told that aspects of performance and indexing play a role and that this is not particularly trivial to implement.
