on Sep 16, 2025 Since we build and test with the bundled JDK, we'll also need to upgrade to a version of gradle that supports JDK 25, which does not exist yet. However, we do need to upgrade to Gradle 9 which is available now. I'm assuming support for JDK 25 will only be offered in Gradle 9+.
Reacted by Ankit Jain, Saurabh Singh and Peter ZhuWe'll need to upgrade to Gradle 9.1 to support building with JDK 25, which is in progress here: #19329
The official Temurin builds only available in x64/linux now:
- Pending macOS and all arm64/ppc64le builds: https://github.com/adoptium/temurin25-binaries/releases/tag/jdk-25%2B36
- Pending Scoop Update on either Temurin or OpenJDK: https://github.com/ScoopInstaller/Java/issues
ppc and windows is out now, mac still pending it seems like, as well as aarch64 for linux.
Update scoop to include the temurin 25 versions:
Infra changes:
- Add JDK25 to all ci images opensearch-build#5739
- Update JDK25 on packer and jenkins instances opensearch-ci#617
- Update jdk25 AMI and bump macOS to 14.7.8 version opensearch-ci#622
- Ubuntu2404 lock python3.9 to 3.9.23 on arm64 to avoid version mismatch opensearch-build#5806
20251001 macOS online, aarch64 online.

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe
JDK25 was announced on September 16, and Adoptium JDK24 is marked for End of Availability by September 2025 - https://adoptium.net/support.
Describe the solution you'd like
Given OpenSearch 3.3 is marked for release on October 14 - https://opensearch.org/releases/, I am wondering if we should consider updating bundled JDK to JDK25 once Temurin makes it available for 3.3 release?
