DAX language showing white background, even when in "Dark" mode #416
Each UDL has a fixed color scheme, and as such, do not magically follow the selected Theme. Some use "transparent" for the background, which would make it follow the background color of the Dark Mode... but that wouldn't change the foreground text, so it would be black-on-gray or similar in many circumstances.
The right solution is to replicate what was done with the markdown UDL distributed with Notepad++: make two copies of the UDL definition, one with "light" colors (the existing one), and one with dark colors (making sure to manually add the darkModeTheme="yes" attribute).
ex:
<UserLang name="Markdown (preinstalled dark mode)" ext="md markdown" darkModeTheme="yes" udlVersion="2.1">
Then, if both are installed on your system, Notepad++ will choose the light-mode or dark-mode version of the UDL. After someone created the dark-mode version, they could submit it here, so that users could download whichever one they preferred (or both, if they swap between the modes). But as the User Defined Langauge Collection's README says, "Any feature requests in this Collection's repository to "create the UDL definition for me" will be rejected".
If you (or anyone else) wanted to create the second copy of the DAX UDL, naming the file DAX_DarkMode_byXYZ.xml and making sure the darkModeTheme attribute was set and the name attribute was unique relative to the original DAX UDL, such a PR would be accepted. (If you don't know how to make a PR, feel free to reply to this Issue with the updated UDL attached, and I would probably find the time to do the PR portion for you.)
But the maintainers of this Collection are not able to create UDLs on request, so this Issue will be closed.
