Give Monid free web search and page fetching with Parallel Search MCP. Search uses Fast mode, with no Parallel account or API key needed. Select parallel#search or parallel#fetch in the catalog and run them through the existing engine CLI; the connector README has ready-to-run commands.

Both endpoints use the FREE usage model. Each run manages its own HTTP MCP session and returns structured tool results. The anonymous tier is rate limited and intended for exploration and light use.

I work at Parallel.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added anonymous Parallel search and web-fetch capabilities. Search supports objectives and related queries; fetch accepts up to 20 URLs and can return per-URL errors.
    • Both capabilities are free to use and do not require credentials.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

Adds anonymous Parallel search and fetch endpoints that call web_search and web_fetch through MCP. The provider manages per-run sessions, accepts JSON and finite SSE replies, and maps protocol and tool failures to provider errors. Recorded exchanges and tests cover endpoint validation, protocol handling, cleanup, and fixture session-ID scrubbing.

Priority: ➖ Normal

Merge Risk | 🔵 Low · up to 9c52a

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to 9c52a

The change adds anonymous Parallel search and fetch. Before merging, move the shared fixture-scrubbing edit into its own commit and record it in design.md. No functional problem was found.

Security Architecture Review

Security architecture risk: 🔵 Low · up to 9c52a

The integration uses a fixed service address, sends no saved API credentials, and isolates transport sessions per call. No concrete security defect was established. Upstream data handling and behavior during interrupted hosted execution remain unverified.

Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.

Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The evidenced exposure is caller-provided search and fetch data sent to Parallel and returned web content received by the caller. Fetch URLs are remote tool arguments, not local transport destinations. Upstream retrieval restrictions, conversation isolation, and data retention are not established by repository evidence.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — Fixture recording excludes request headers and allowlists response headers. The changed scrubber replaces MCP transport-session identifiers with fixture-session, preserving replay behavior without retaining the live identifier in scrubbed headers.

Resilience and Maintainability Implications

  • inferred — Invocation-local session state prevents direct cross-run session reuse, and cooperative failures pass through best-effort cleanup. Cleanup can fail or be interrupted. The existing run loop supplies cancellation to cadence sleep, not active lifecycle HTTP requests; hosted termination, retry-after-acceptance, and upstream session expiry remain coverage gaps rather than verified security defects.

Hardening Proposals

  • proposed — Before confidential-data or shared-hosted use, establish the upstream retention and conversation-isolation contract, and document how interrupted runs, abandoned sessions, and ambiguous tool-call retries are handled.

This connector PR edits shared/.

The edits widen RECORDED_RES_HEADERS and add a vendor-specific scrub rule in scrubCalls. This is a change to shared test infrastructure inside a connector-only PR. Move these edits into their own commit and record a D-entry for them in openspec/changes/add-connector-parallel/design.md. The proposal says "Connector-only change". With this edit, that claim is false.

As per path instructions: "connector-only PRs touching engine/, shared/, config.yml or ENGINE_VERSION — a compiler fix found mid-port is its own commit with a D-entry."
