A limited public companion to the preprint: citation metadata, data-access pointers, and a paper-facing construct → MIDUS variable map.
It is not a full replication package. Analysis code, derived person-level files, exploratory model archives, and internal research notes are maintained privately and are available on reasonable request for verification purposes (and may be posted more fully after peer review).

Secondary analysis of the MIDUS national panel (core N = 7,108 across roughly two decades) and an independent Refresher sample (N = 3,577). Latent personality profiles were enumerated from Big Five and Agency indicators; a joint latent Markov model described profile transitions. Study 1 addressed profile structure, replication, and incremental validity; Study 2 tested hypotheses on transition pathways, skill-related criteria, and self-determination theory predictors of transition direction.
The study was not preregistered.
MIDUS data are obtained from ICPSR under ICPSR / MIDUS terms of use. This repository does not contain or distribute MIDUS files.
