Reproduction

popular_repositories inspects only each artifact entity's preferred URL. When exact-link deduplication joins an observed GitHub repository with a paper/dataset and prefers the paper URL, the repository disappears from the survey despite its recorded stars.

The native snapshot_for_run + popular_repositories path reproduces this with a GitHub observation at 100 stars and an arXiv observation linking that same repository. Committed snapshot history contains five actual observed repositories hidden by paper/dataset preferred URLs. Proposed scope: recover a unique repository URL from actual corpus observations when the preferred URL is not GitHub. Merely linked but unobserved repositories must remain excluded, and ambiguous multiple-repository aliases must not transfer aggregate popularity.

This is seed selection, separate from #786 contributor pagination. No open authors.py production overlap, source-data edit, or new data submission.

Verification

The focused native module tests pass (11 passed). All six required commands passed at this exact SSH-signed head in a clean detached checkout with its own editable dev environment and initialized recursive submodule:
