Part of #258. Reworked after deciding what country pages are for: the overview of a country's indie scene, for newcomers and peers, and for search. /places stays the tool for exploring on a map. Builds on YoruNoHikage's #73.

The page, top to bottom

  1. Headline numbers: studios, associations, games made there, upcoming events. Each links to its list filtered to the country.
  2. Cities: the top ten, each with its region and a bar split between studios (yellow) and associations (green), plus the exact counts. A city's region is the one most of its organisations give, because stored region names are inconsistent. The counting is in the app (topCities, unit-tested) instead of raw SQL, which is one less query to port to D1.
  3. Associations, grouped by city with the most first, each linking to its page. This is the most useful section for a newcomer looking for a local association. Beyond twelve cities, the rest fold behind "Show associations in N more cities". They stay in the HTML, so search engines still see them.
  4. Games made in the country: the eight most recent, and "All N games".
  5. Upcoming events: the next three, leaving out canceled and past ones. When there are none, members see an "Add an event" prompt.

For search: the title is "Indie game studios and associations in France", and the description gives the counts. Removed: the "Most vibrant cities" framing; the section is just "Cities".

/games?country=XX is new: it lists games made by the country's studios. A removable "Made in France" chip shows the filter is on. Fixed in passing: the /countries cards had no React key.

The linked city map (variant A of the prototype) comes in #257, reworked to match.

Tests

  • Unit: topCities (the split, region choice, missing cities, the limit) and associationsByCity (grouping and ordering, associations without a city last).
  • e2e: a seeded Antarctic city with two studios and an association, a game and three events. It checks:
    • the title and the four number links;
    • "2 studios, 1 association" with the region;
    • the association links to its page;
    • the game appears under "Games made in Antarctica";
    • canceled and past events are left out;
    • the games list filters to Antarctica, and removing the chip clears the filter.
  • build ✅, vitest 142/142 ✅, Playwright 74/74 ✅
  • Checked on a local copy of production data at desktop and phone widths: France has 635 studios, 73 associations, 445 games.

#258: a country page is for newcomers and peers, and for search: what the
scene is like there, and where to go next. /places stays the tool for
exploring on a map. Builds on YoruNoHikage's #73.

- Headline numbers: studios, associations, games made there, upcoming
  events, each linking to the list filtered to the country.
- Cities: the top ten, each with its region and a bar split between
  studios and associations (topCities, counted in the app rather than
  raw SQL, which also eases the D1 port).
- Associations, grouped by city with the most first, linking to their
  pages; beyond twelve cities the rest fold behind a toggle but stay in
  the HTML for search.
- Games made in the country: the eight most recent, and a link to all.
- Upcoming events: the next three, not canceled, with an empty state
  that invites members to add one.
- Title and description for search: "Indie game studios and
  associations in France", with the counts.
- /games?country=XX lists games made by the country's studios, shown as
  a removable "Made in France" filter.

Also gives the /countries cards their missing React key.
