This custom Shadertastic filter pixelates your face while keeping the rest of the video sharp. It leverages Shadertastic’s built-in face detection to track your movements, ensuring the pixelated zone stays aligned as you move. The edges are softened to blend naturally with the unpixelated areas, and you can adjust how much space around your face gets covered. The remainder of the screen remains unchanged.

Installation To install, move the face_pixelate folder into your Shadertastic effects directory:

  • Linux: /usr/share/obs/obs-plugins/shadertastic/effects/filters/
  • Windows: %PROGRAMDATA%\obs-studio-plugins\shadertastic\effects\filters/
  • macOS: /Library/Application Support/obs-studio-plugins/shadertastic/effects/filters/ Once placed, restart OBS.

Setup & Configuration Adding the filter to your stream is straightforward:

  1. Right-click any source in OBS, select Filters, and click the plus (+) button to add a Shadertastic filter.
  2. From the dropdown menu, choose Pixelate Face (Track).
  3. Adjust the following settings to suit your preferences:
    • Pixel Size: Controls the blockiness of the effect (range: 2–80).
    • Edge Feather: Determines how smoothly the pixelated area blends into the rest of the video.
    • Face Padding: Expands the pixelated zone beyond your face.

Requirements & License

  • Shadertastic: v1.1.0 or newer (v1.2.0 recommended)
  • OBS Studio: v30 or newer
  • License: MIT
