All Core Devs - Consensus (ACDC) #186, September 3 2026 #2199

Closed

Description

@nixorokish

UTC Date & Time

September 03, 2026, 14:00 UTC

Agenda

  • Devnet updates
    • ethpandaops / client teams — Non-finality DevNet (DevNet 9): Pari's trunk-branch smoke test ~Aug 31 — results? Grandine CL + Nimbus EL still need to move to trunk (was the blocker); are we ready to launch, or is this blocked? Lido/Optimism requested ≥1 day stable window pre-fork.
    • ethpandaops / client teams — DevNet 8 builder deposit caching bug postmortem: non-finality at Gloas activation (Lighthouse, Prysm, Teku affected); Lodestar fork-transition fix cut 20s→500ms (Eitan); confirm all client fixes are in before Sepolia fork.
    • ethpandaops — Sepolia Glamsterdam fork: epoch 351232, Sep 28 (~4 weeks) — explicitly deferred from Meeting 81 fix #185 to Update README.md #186. Confirmation needed for client/app releases; any objections or concerns?
  • Glamsterdam
  • Hegotá
    • Hegota EIP tier rankings (S/A/B/D with rationale): all client teams committed to publish by mid-September

    @chugarchugarr

    For the Hegotá agenda: EIP-8198 (Quick Slots) now has an upstream-facing executable EL implementation of the schedule-driven direction.

    The implementation preserves the current Hegotá-facing behavior while using synthetic later duration eras only to prove that the same production paths compose without new duration-specific EL branches.

    One specification distinction remains narrow and explicit: one-time capacity transitions use new / old, while persistent base-fee wall-clock responsiveness uses active / pre-schedule-base on every block. The EL proof exercises repeated eras so those two semantics cannot collapse after the first transition.

    The question I would like resolved during EIP-8198 discussion is: should the EL side pay the refactor cost once so later slot-duration reductions become schedule/config changes rather than new transition-specific execution logic?

    Following the discussing from ACDT on Monday, I want to close the decision on EIP-8037 changes (#2204 (comment))

    Hegotá related agenda items: I want to give an update to client teams on recent developments around the following EIPs that are PFI-ed for H*:
