0. Create a fork or send me a request so I can add you to collaborators
1. Find appropriate unassigned ticket (we are usually have plenty of those) in project issues section or propose an improvement
2. Make sure that it has all info for you to start. If not — contact ticket author for clarifications
3. If in your opinion ticket requires changes in DB schema (new collections, extra fields, new indexes) or introduces new dependencies for the project or just it looks involved then describe those changes in the ticket. We call it design review 3a. Once your proposal is approved — code it (in a separate branch)!
4. Test it locally
5. Commit and issue me a pull request
