x86_64 GNU PGO build loses rustc to an unidentified signal

The instrumented PGO compilation failed before profile collection:

panicked at cargo-auditable-0.7.6/src/rustc_wrapper.rs:35:10:
rustc was terminated by a deadly signal
error: could not compile `uv` (bin "uv")

Source inspection confirms that .github/workflows/build-release-binaries.yml invokes scripts/build_uv_pgo.py --train-only on this runner. The script builds with -Cprofile-generate, and the release profile enables fat LTO. The cargo-auditable wrapper panics when rustc has no numeric exit code; it does not report which signal terminated rustc. OOM exhaustion is a hypothesis, not an established cause.

The workspace-extraction PR does not change the workflow or PGO script, and its test and lint jobs passed. Earlier changes in the stacked branch could still affect compiler memory usage. This is an actionable release-build failure rather than an ordinary source compilation diagnostic, but it cannot yet be classified confidently as transient.

Capture the terminating signal and runner memory/OOM evidence, then address runner capacity or the compiler/build configuration as indicated. Cargo exit 101, the Python subprocess exception, and Docker exit 1 are follow-on errors. The i686 matrix job was cancelled after this failure and has no independent compiler failure.

Related: #2124 tracked confirmed ARM64 worker OOM kills; astral-sh#22116 increased ARM64 PGO runner memory. Those remediations do not cover this x86_64 runner.
