[Bug]: Change file encoding does not create the parent folder of the target file #8779

Description

Apache Hop version?

2.20.0-SNAPSHOT (main)

Java version?

21

Operating system

Linux

What happened?

With "Create parent folder" enabled, Change file encoding fails when the folder of the target file does not exist:

Error creating target file!
config/projects/samples/output/change-file-encoding.txt (No such file or directory)

Cause

  • ChangeFileEncoding.processRow checks and creates the parent folder of the source file, which always exists at that point, instead of the parent folder of the target file.
  • changeEncoding reads and writes through FileInputStream / FileOutputStream on the raw filenames, so source and target files on VFS locations do not work either.
