after consideration, this is being left in draft until a later date. it is a small fix, but likely will have unintended consequences (e.g. due to jdo query depth of task data).

@naknomum This looks like it is still valuable as a fix in the legacy WBIA pipeline, but we are moving away from that pipeline in favor of the ml-service pipeline. Is it worth pushing this PR further?
