One file, pasted into your browser console.
No installs. No build step. No servers. Nothing ever leaves your browser.
| Feature | What it does | |
|---|---|---|
| 💔 | Not following back | Accounts you follow that don't follow you |
| 💛 | Fans | People who follow you while you don't follow them |
| 🤝 | Mutuals | The accounts that go both ways |
| 🤍 | Whitelist | Click an avatar to shield an account from bulk unfollows — saved between sessions |
| 📊 | CSV & JSON export | Open any list in Excel or Google Sheets |
| ✅ | Bulk unfollow | Tick, confirm, and stop at any moment |
| 🐢 | Human pacing | Randomised delays and cooldowns to lower the risk of an action block |
| 🔒 | Zero telemetry | No backend, no analytics, no account required |
1. Copy the script from the copy page — or straight from src/insta-unfollowers.js
2. Open instagram.com and log in
3. Open the developer console:
| Platform | Shortcut |
|---|---|
| 🪟 Windows / 🐧 Linux | Ctrl + Shift + J |
| 🍎 macOS | ⌘ + ⌥ + I |
4. Paste the script and press Enter
5. Hit Run scan ✨
Warning
Some browsers block pasting into the console the first time. If you see a warning, type allow pasting, press Enter, then paste.
That warning exists for a good reason: never paste console code you haven't read or don't trust — this one included. It's ~480 readable lines with no minification and no dependencies, so go read it first.
Chrome for Android has no developer console. Use a browser that ships with one — for example Eruda Browser — open Instagram inside it, then follow the same steps.
On purpose.
The script waits a random amount of time between requests, takes a longer cooldown every few unfollows, and backs off automatically when Instagram returns a rate limit. Traffic that arrives on a perfect metronome is what gets flagged.
Don't remove those delays. They're the reason your account stays out of trouble.
Everything runs in the tab you already have open, using the session you're already logged into.
- ❌ No backend, no database, no account
- ❌ No analytics, no tracking, no ads
- ❌ No password ever typed anywhere
- ✅ The only server contacted is Instagram itself
- ✅ Your whitelist lives in
localStorage, on your machine
This project is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Instagram or Meta.
It calls Instagram's private endpoints, which goes against their Terms of Service, and automated unfollowing can trigger temporary action blocks. Unfollow a few dozen accounts a day, not hundreds.
Use at your own risk.
One dependency-free file — clone it, edit src/insta-unfollowers.js, test it in your own console, open a PR.
Ideas up for grabs:
- 📅 Snapshots over time — "who unfollowed me since last week"
- 🕒 Non-followers sorted by when you followed them
- 🌍 UI translations
- 📥 Import a whitelist from a file
- 👻 Flag inactive accounts (no posts in a year)
Bug reports and screenshots of things breaking are just as welcome as code.
