systemd unit names live in one flat, global namespace, with nothing like a Kubernetes namespace to group them, so a shared name prefix is how to group the node's own services. Every unit the image ships is now seismic-, which gives:

  • one drop-in directory, seismic-.service.d/, that reaches all of them: systemd searches the prefix of a dashed unit name for drop-ins. The sandbox baseline that follows uses it in place of a symlink per unit.
  • one handle on a running node: systemctl list-units 'seismic-' journalctl -u 'seismic-'

The image scripts follow their units' names, and reth's slice becomes seismic-reth.slice, still outside system.slice's reservation of port
8545. User accounts and the binaries built from other repos keep their names.

BREAKING CHANGE: operators address units by the new names, e.g. journalctl -u seismic-reth and systemctl restart seismic-summit.target.

CI seems stuck on the reproducibility build... it usually takes <20 mins. Assuming this is just a github issue, but will look into it if it appears in future PRs.
