- Line 21: Update the deployment guidance in the “Give the user both”
instruction to say an unclaimed site may be removed after seven days, rather
than stating removal is guaranteed.
- Line 3: Update the rule configuration’s globs setting so the deployment rule
can attach when deployment requests do not reference index.html; remove the
narrow glob or use a broader availability setting, while preserving the rule’s
existing description and behavior.
- Line 18: Update the deploy command so it targets the folder containing the
selected built site instead of always using dist; support the accepted top-level
index.html and output-folder layouts.

Target the folder that contains the built site, say an unclaimed site may be removed after seven days, and broaden globs past index.html. Co-authored-by: bosmdavid-gif <bosmdavid-gif@users.noreply.github.com>

- Line 22: Update the claim-link instruction in the deployment prompt to tell

- Around line 11-20: Update the “Before deploying” and “Deploy” guidance to
require deploying a clean directory containing only files intended for hosting;
remove the recommendation to deploy `.` and instruct users to copy the built
site into a clean output directory first.

- Line 15: Update the server-linking instruction in the Backend card guidance to
explicitly add the server URL to the Backend card as the link destination, while
preserving the supported hosting options and one-step setup.
- Line 13: Update the root-level deployment instructions to require an
applicable Git ignore rule for the output folder’s `.dropthehassle.json` marker,
verifying or adding the rule as needed, and ensure the marker is never
committed.
- Line 12: Update the publish guidance for `dist/` and other build output
folders to preserve `.dropthehassle.json` across builds that clear their output
directory; direct users to store the marker outside that directory or restore it
after each build so later deploys update the existing site.

Thanks for the reviews. All points are addressed in the latest commits: no narrow globs, the build folder isn't hard-coded, a clean output folder with the deploy marker kept and gitignored, and the Backend card named for the server part. |
Summary
Adds a Project Rule for the moment a user asks Cursor to "put this site online": check that the folder contains the output of an AI-built site or web app, build it first if it's source code, then publish it with the DropTheHassle CLI.
Contribution Type
rules/*.mdcruleValue To Cursor Users
When a user asks the agent to publish an AI-built site or web app and hasn't picked a host, the rule tells it to:
<folder>is a clean built folder:dist/,build/,out/,.output/public/, or a folder containing only site files; ifindex.htmlis in the project root, copy the site files into a clean output folder first;npx -y dropthehassle deploy <folder>(no account needed), then give the user the live URL and the claim link, and tell them to claim the site with a free account to keep it; never upload or zip the whole repo, because secrets such as.envorcredentials.jsoncould get uploaded;Added Or Changed Files
rules/dropthehassle-deploy-cursorrules-prompt-file.mdc: the rule. The frontmatter follows the README format:description, globs: **/*, andalwaysApply: false, so Cursor's agent loads it from the description whenever the user asks to deploy (Agent Requested), not only when an index.html is in context.README.md: one line under Hosting and Deployments, in alphabetical order.Quality Checklist
react-typescript.mdc.rules/*.mdcfiles include frontmatter with a non-emptydescription, relevantglobs, andalwaysApply: falseunless the rule is universal.Notes For Maintainers
Disclosure: I'm the maker of DropTheHassle. Like the other hosting rules in the same section, it is tied to one host; the build checks and backend guidance apply to this deploy. The limits in the rule (25 MB / 1,000 files before a claim, 5 new unclaimed sites per hour and 20 per day per network, claim link) match the current service.
