@klveal We will include this new dataset, but have a question/comment about the source_id. In most obs4MIPs cases the horizontal resolution is not included in the source_id because it is described as part of the 'grid_label' which is part of the filename. But I see how this can be confusing with our various source descriptors so apologies for that. I would recommend the following:
source_id = SACCI-LST-IRMGP-3.00
source_label = SACCI-LST-IRMGP
source_name (superseding source_description) = 'ESA Land Surface Temperature Climate Change Initiative Multisensor Infra-Red Low Earth Orbit and Geostationary Earth Orbit land surface temperature'

Are you ok with this? These are only recommendations as we try to keep this description as free form as possible.

@gleckler1 Did you meant ESACCI-LST-IRMGP-3.00 - I'm guessing the loss of the first E is a typo?
We have been asked to submit this dataset at the native resolution of 0.05deg and also at a lower spatial resolution - so if it's OK to have the same source_id for both datasets, then this is OK with me.

@klveal Hi Karen, @gleckler1 has updated the obs4mips_CVs.json to include what is below. I noted with # some changes that should be made to the global attributes in your NetCDF(s) to make them ODS-compliant:

For the re-gridded version, please create a new Issue and keep these things in mind:

obs4MIPs files should be named like: <variable_id>_<frequency>_<source_id>_<variant_label>_<grid_label>[_<time_range>].nc. Let's pretend the ts 0.05deg NetCDF version is named like:ts_mon_ESACCI-LST-IRMGP_3-0-0_ULeicester_gn_1950-2010.nc. The coarser re-gridded version would have the grid_label changed from native grid (gn) to (gr1): ts_mon_ESACCI-LST-IRMGP_3-0-0_ULeicester_gr1_1950-2010.nc

You would then also change the nominal_resolution and grid global attributes. Here's a summary of the things you would change for the NetCDF(s) at a coarser resolution:

grid_label = 'gr1'  # `gr` indicates that the product was re-gridded from native; the`1` indicates it is the arbitrary first re-gridding level
nominal_resolution = '1x1 degree'  # or whatever resolution you decided on
grid = 'data re-gridded to 1x1 degree latxlon grid from the native 0.05x0.05 degree grid using an area-average preserving method'  # describe whatever method used to re-grid and which grid

When you're done preparing the 0.05 degree NetCDFs, please feel free to copy-paste the results of ncdump -h <your-netcdf-file>.nc to this chat.
