Demographic Transition Reproduction Bundle

This directory contains a minimal local bundle to reproduce the main analysis outputs based on:

• Human Mortality Database (HMD)
• United Nations World Population Prospects 2024 (UNSD / WPP)
• Gapminder reference files

Contents

• analysis_EHS.py: combined reproduction script for the main empirical analysis
• calc_new.py: auxiliary theoretical calculation script
• data/hmd_countries_20251110/: reduced HMD bundle containing only the files used by analysis_EHS.py
• data/WPP2024_GEN_F01_DEMOGRAPHIC_INDICATORS_COMPACT.xlsx: UN WPP 2024 demographic indicators
• data/gapminder2023/: Gapminder reference folder

Setup

Install the minimal Python dependencies:

pip install -r requirements.txt

Run

Main analysis:

python3 analysis_EHS.py

The main outputs are written to:

figs/EHS/
