- Use SLACK_USER_TOKEN environment variable for token - Use -user flag for user ID - Standardize error message format - Follow hybrid approach: env vars for sensitive data, flags for config
- Use SLACK_BOT_TOKEN environment variable for token - Follow hybrid approach: env vars for sensitive data
- Use SLACK_BOT_TOKEN environment variable for token - Use SLACK_SIGNING_SECRET environment variable for signing secret - Initialize credentials in init() function for global access - Follow hybrid approach: env vars for sensitive data
- Use SLACK_BOT_TOKEN environment variable for token - Follow hybrid approach: env vars for sensitive data
- Use SLACK_SIGNING_SECRET environment variable for signing secret - Remove command-line flag for secret (security best practice) - Follow hybrid approach: env vars for sensitive data
- Add validation for SLACK_BOT_TOKEN and SLACK_APP_TOKEN environment variables - Token names already follow convention - Improve error handling for missing credentials
A response can return a payload of the form:
```
{
"ok": false,
"error": "invalid_blocks",
"errors": [
"failed to match all allowed schemas [json-pointer:/blocks/3/text]",
"invalid additional property: emoji [json-pointer:/blocks/3/text]"
],
"response_metadata": {
"messages": [
"[ERROR] failed to match all allowed schemas [json-pointer:/blocks/3/text]",
"[ERROR] invalid additional property: emoji [json-pointer:/blocks/3/text]"
]
}
}
```
This means that we need to fallback to parsing a simple string if we
fail to parse the content of "errors" into a `map[string]interface{}`.
Closes #1446.
This reverts commit aa7a868.
This PR changes the `Interactivity` and `EventSubscriptions` fields in the manifest.go `Settings` struct to pointers so they can be omitted if they're left empty. This fixes #1460

Replace ResponseMetadata-based pagination with direct cursor handling in UserPagination struct. This simplifies the pagination logic and provides more explicit control over cursor state. Changes: - Add GetUsersOptionCursor() to set pagination cursor - Replace previousResp field with Cursor and complete fields - Update Next() method to use cursor directly from API response - Add test coverage for cursor-based pagination scenarios
##### Pull Request Guidelines These are recommendations for pull requests. They are strictly guidelines to help manage expectations. ##### PR preparation Run `make pr-prep` from the root of the repository to run formatting, linting and tests. ##### Should this be an issue instead - [ ] is it a convenience method? (no new functionality, streamlines some use case) - [ ] exposes a previously private type, const, method, etc. - [ ] is it application specific (caching, retry logic, rate limiting, etc) - [ ] is it performance related. ##### API changes Since API changes have to be maintained they undergo a more detailed review and are more likely to require changes. - no tests, if you're adding to the API include at least a single test of the happy case. - If you can accomplish your goal without changing the API, then do so. - dependency changes. updates are okay. adding/removing need justification. ###### Examples of API changes that do not meet guidelines: - in library cache for users. caches are use case specific. - Convenience methods for Sending Messages, update, post, ephemeral, etc. consider opening an issue instead.
It seems `KickUserFromConversation` can return the field `errors` as a map, specifically
`{}`.
This adjusts the internals so that we don't have breaking changes but also capture this
return.
TableBlock.Rows was typed [][]*RichTextBlock, so it can't represent anything but `rich_text` cells. Slack's table block does support `raw_text` and `raw_number` and `null` for empty cells which meant that trying to decode those into *RichTextBlock would silently drop their content. I've changed the `Rows` to instead become a union of concrete cell types according to the documentation: - `TableRichTextCell` (rich_text, "elements") - `TableRawTextCell` (raw_text, "text") - `TableRawNumberCell` (raw_number, "value") - `nil` (empty cell; I believe slack just sends null) Funnily enough (not funny at all!) it doesn't seem possible to use `raw_number` when posting a message to slack, only `raw_text` or `rich_text`, therefore I've documented that. BREAKING CHANGE: TableBlock.Rows is no [][]TableCell instead of [][]*RichTextBlock.
Replace all occurrences of with (available since Go 1.18) for modern Go idiom. Fixes 34 files found via code search. --------- Co-authored-by: Norberto Lopes <nlopes.ml@gmail.com>
I really hate doing this but 5s as an upper bound is fine.
Adds `IsExtSharedChannel` to the `EventsAPIEvent` struct so it gets unmarshalled from JSON. This is a field on the outer event as described by https://docs.slack.dev/apis/events-api/#callback-field and I would like to be able to write some logic around this field after calling `slackevents.ParseEvent`.

## Summary Fixed three typos in code comments and a debug log string: - `audit.go`: `entires` → `entries` in the `GetAuditLogs` godoc comment - `websocket_managed_conn.go`: `disonnected` → `disconnected` in an RTM debug log message - `socketmode/socketmode_handler.go`: `incomming` → `incoming` in a function comment No logic changes — comments and strings only. …tions (#1579) ## Summary `files.completeUploadExternal` accepts a `channels` parameter that shares a single uploaded file with up to 100 conversations in one request. slack-go exposes only the singular `channel_id` through `CompleteUploadExternalParameters.Channel`, so sharing one file with N conversations requires N separate uploads. Slack added `channels` in early 2025 and the official SDKs followed ([java](slackapi/java-slack-sdk#1427), [python](slackapi/python-slack-sdk#1641)). slack-go still has the shape it needed when the v2 upload flow was single-channel only (#1171). ## Changes - `CompleteUploadExternalParameters` gains `Channels []string`, sent as a comma-separated `channels` value. `Channel` is untouched, so existing callers are unaffected. - `UploadFileParameters` gains `Channels []string`, forwarded to `CompleteUploadExternalContext`. - `TestCompleteUploadExternalContext` gains a `Channels` case. Setting both `Channel` and `Channels` sends both parameters, matching the official SDKs, which do not treat them as mutually exclusive. Verified against a real workspace with `Channels` set and `Channel` empty.
Add ContainerBlock, modelling Slack's container block type introduced on 2026-06-29, which groups child blocks into a single, optionally collapsible unit with a title, subtitle, icon, and width. - Register MBTContainer and dispatch "container" in Blocks.UnmarshalJSON so inbound payloads decode to the concrete type. - Reuse the existing Blocks type for child_blocks, so nested blocks marshal and round-trip through the same polymorphic path as top-level blocks. - Add a NewContainerBlock constructor with fluent With* builders and a Validate method covering Slack's documented constraints. - Add constructor, validation, and JSON round-trip tests, plus a container case in the real-payload round-trip guardrail. Slack API docs: https://docs.slack.dev/reference/block-kit/blocks/container-block/ ##### Pull Request Guidelines These are recommendations for pull requests.
Fixes #1571 ##### Summary `chat.postMessage` responses include a full `message` object, but the library dropped it during deserialization: `chatResponseFull` only captured `channel`, `ts`, `message_ts`, `scheduled_message_id`, and `text`. This made `message.thread_ts` inaccessible — which is the only way to detect that a threaded reply was silently posted as a top-level message because its parent was deleted between receipt and posting. The current workaround requires `UnsafeApplyMsgOptions` and a hand-rolled HTTP post. ##### Changes - Add a `Message Message `json:"message"`` field to `chatResponseFull` so the response's message object is no longer discarded. - Add `PostMessageWithResponse` / `PostMessageWithResponseContext`, which return the full `Message` alongside the existing channel/timestamp return values (API shape as proposed in #1571). - Refactor `SendMessageContext` into a thin wrapper over a new private `sendResponseFull` helper; existing behavior and signatures are unchanged. - Add `TestPostMessageWithResponse` covering the happy path, asserting `Message.Text`, `Message.Timestamp`, and `Message.ThreadTimestamp` are populated from the response. The change is purely additive — no existing exported signatures were modified. ##### PR preparation Ran `make pr-prep`: gofmt clean, `go vet` clean, full test suite (including `-race`) passes.
Ended up adding the dates to a few changelog entries I had forgotten.
## Summary - Parse top-level `action_token` values on `AppMentionEvent` and `MessageEvent`. - Preserve the existing nested `assistant_thread` representation for backwards compatibility. - Add direct JSON and full Events API parser regression coverage. ## Root cause Slack sends the Data Access API action token directly on real `app_mention` and `message` event objects. The typed events only modeled the token inside `assistant_thread`, so standard JSON unmarshalling silently discarded the top-level field and callers received no usable token. Fixes #1577.
…1584) Bumps [github.com/stretchr/testify](https://github.com/stretchr/testify) from 1.11.1 to 1.12.1. <details> <summary>Release notes</summary> <p><em>Sourced from <a href="https://github.com/stretchr/testify/releases">github.com/stretchr/testify's releases</a>.</em></p> <blockquote> <h2>v1.12.1</h2> <p>This is the first release which has the minimum dependencies practical in testify v1. The last remaining dependencies are github.com/stretchr/objx which itself has no dependencies, and go.yaml.in/yaml/v3. Removing objx would require v2, it cannot be vendored. Removing YAML would require vendoring the yaml library, which would do more harm than good. It's better to become aware of vulnerabilities in the official yaml package than to attempt to maintain our own.</p> <h2>What's Changed</h2> <ul> <li>Change yaml library to
