Hi, my name is Josh, and I am very surprised to find exactly what I was looking for! I always loved neovim and wanted more to the experience as i tried omarchy with custom keybinds but never felt they were good enough. Until I found your hyprvim repo and this oasis-dots and I knew I had to get it running 💪 . I am currently in school learning app and web development but as this message shows I stay up a lot configuring stuff, I would love to contribute to this amazing project 🙌

Hey Josh! I'm happy to hear these tools are what you've been looking for! This could be a great project to learn from too. It certainly has been for me, and I'm a software engineer in my 30s 👴🏻!

I'm definitely open to contributions, including AI-assisted ones. Just keep in mind that Oasis is ultimately my personal dotfiles and what I use on my work computer, so I'm intentional about what gets added. I generally stick to features I'd actually use rather than adding features just for the sake of it. That said, bug fixes, improvements, and new ideas that align with the project are always welcome! Feel free to open a discussion or issue before investing time in a PR.

For a little background, I only recently made these dotfiles public. Originally, I just wanted a fully keyboard-driven desktop that I could easily deploy across multiple machines. Eventually, I realized others might find it useful too, so I started making it easier for people to customize without modifying the base configuration. For example, which-key automatically picks up your custom keybinds and submaps which is... nice.

I think there's still plenty of room to improve the installation experience, customization, and discoverability. And I'm sure there are plenty of ideas that I haven't considered! One of the things I'm currently working on is a voice command system that enables me to control the computer and do things with my voice (because sometimes I'm holding a baby in my arms and can't use the keyboard).

Actually, I'd be particularly interested in hearing how your installation went. Did you encounter any issues or find anything confusing? Even feedback like "I couldn't figure out how this worked" is genuinely helpful. As someone installing it for the first time, you'll probably notice things that I've overlooked.

Thanks for reaching out, and good luck with your app and web development studies!
