HVTools UI Elements - Feature Status

This document outlines the planned tabs and features for HVTools, indicating their current implementation status.

Legend

  • ✅ Implemented - Feature is currently available in the application
  • 🚧 Partial - Feature is partially implemented or placeholder exists
  • ❌ Planned - Feature is planned but not yet implemented

Core Information Tabs

✅ hvOverview - Virtual Machine Overview

Status: Implemented

Features:

  • VM inventory and basic properties
  • State, generation, configuration version
  • Export and summary functionality
  • Refresh capability

Implementation Details:

  • Tab: tabpagehvOverview
  • DataGridView: datagridviewVMOverView
  • Actions: Export, Summary, Refresh

✅ Manage VM Groups

Status: Implemented

Features:

  • Add and remove VMs from groups
  • Create new VM Groups
  • Rename VM Groups
  • Delete VM Groups
  • Manage VM Group members

Implementation Details:

  • Tab: tabpageVMGroups
  • DataGridView: datagridviewVMGroups
  • Forms: CreateVMGroupForm, RenameVMGroupForm, ManageVMGroupMembers
  • Actions: Create, Rename, Delete, Manage Members, Refresh

❌ Manage VM Networks

Status: Planned

Features:

  • VM network adapter configuration
  • Network assignment and management
  • VLAN settings

Notes:

  • No implementation found
  • May be related to tabpageManageNetwork or tabpagehvNetworking

✅ hvHosts - Hyper-V Host Information

Status: Implemented

Features:

  • Physical server details and capabilities
  • Resource utilization and capacity
  • Host refresh functionality

Implementation Details:

  • Tab: tabpagehvHosts
  • DataGridView: datagridviewhvHosts
  • Actions: Refresh

✅ hvClusters - Failover Cluster Management

Status: Implemented

Features:

  • Cluster configuration and node status
  • High availability settings
  • Cluster information display (name, nodes, networks, shared volumes)
  • Cluster VMs overview
  • Cluster Nodes overview

Implementation Details:

  • Tab: tabpagehvClusters
  • DataGridViews: datagridviewClusterVMs, datagridviewClusterNodes
  • GroupBox: groupBoxClusterInfo (displays cluster details)
  • Actions: Refresh, Summary

🚧 hvStorage - Virtual Storage Management

Status: Partial

Features:

  • VHD/VHDX inventory and properties (Implemented)
  • Storage spaces and CSV information (Placeholder exists)

Implementation Details:

  • Tab: tabpagehvStorage (exists but may be empty/placeholder)
  • Related tab: tabPagehvDisks (Virtual Disks - Implemented)
  • DataGridView: datagridviewvDiskOverView
  • Actions: Summary, Refresh

Notes:

  • Virtual disks (VHD/VHDX) implemented
  • Storage spaces and CSV features may need completion

❌ hvNetworking - Virtual Network Infrastructure

Status: Planned

Features:

  • Virtual switches and network adapters (Planned)
  • Software Defined Networking (SDN) (Planned)

Implementation Details:

  • Tab: tabpagehvNetworking (exists but may be placeholder)
  • Tab: tabpageManageNetwork (exists but may be placeholder)

Notes:

  • Tabs exist but implementation status unclear
  • May require additional development

✅ hvCheckpoints - Checkpoint Management

Status: Implemented

Features:

  • Snapshot tree and checkpoint chains
  • Storage impact analysis
  • Checkpoint overview

Implementation Details:

  • Tab: tabpagehvCheckpoints
  • DataGridView: datagridviewCheckpointOverView
  • Actions: Summary, Refresh

❌ hvReplica - Hyper-V Replica Status

Status: Planned

Features:

  • Disaster recovery replication monitoring (Planned)
  • Recovery point objectives (Planned)

Implementation Details:

  • Tab: tabpagehvReplica (exists but may be placeholder)

Notes:

  • Tab exists but implementation needs verification

❌ hvResources - Resource Pool Management

Status: Planned

Features:

  • CPU, memory, and storage allocation (Planned)
  • Dynamic memory and NUMA settings (Planned)

Implementation Details:

Status: Planned
