Mint has the ability to choose lower KPPRA for a calculation if it expects a material to be an insulator. However, this code is not used. I vote for removing this functionality. While reducing the size of the K-point grid for insulators is helpful, being able to choose when doing so is appropriate on-the-fly is tricky without actually knowing the band gap energy beforehand. So, I vote removing this functionality in order to ensure users won't unknowingly run an inaccurate calculations.
