Beta: 1.20.0-beta.6Unread mail in the tray icon's menu. Update: What changed:
Why the rows have no action buttons: the tray dropdown is a DBusMenu. The panel (the AppIndicator extension on GNOME, Cinnamon's and KDE's own applets) draws it from a description Vireo sends over D-Bus, and that description can only express a vertical list of rows, each one icon plus text, plus separators and submenus. There is no way to place icons side by side, attach buttons to a row, or embed widgets, so a card with a row of reply, mark-read, archive and delete buttons under it cannot exist inside the menu. Stacking the actions as separate rows was tried and read as a column of entries, so the actions stay in the reader and the rows are cards that open the message. Putting real buttons on it would mean Vireo drawing its own popup instead of the panel's menu, which on GNOME Wayland cannot be placed at the tray icon. Reports in this beta: @mfreeman72 (issue #116). x86_64 only, as with every beta. |
Beta: 1.20.0-beta.7The tray icon reaches the beta Flatpak, and fits the Cinnamon panel. Update: What changed:

1.20.0Stable 1.20.0 is out: everything from the nine betas, on the stable channel. Update with Highlights: spell checking in the composer (#114), inline images in the message (#113), an optional tray icon with your newest unread mail in its menu (#116), filtered folders counting toward unread per rule (#116), cached mail opening instantly during a sync, Reply-To honoured, grab handles for the split reply and the attachment drawer, plain-text paste by default, and the attachment fixes for web Gmail senders (#109, #111, #117). Thank you to everyone who shaped and tested this cycle: @typedev, @mfreeman72, @p-mitana and @yioannides. The corresponding issues, pull requests and discussions are now closed with the release. The beta channel catches up as 1.20.1-beta.1 (same code, no beta-only changes). |
Beta: 1.20.1-beta.1Catch-up release: the beta channel now matches stable 1.20.0. No beta-only changes. Update with |
1.20.1Stable 1.20.1 is out. Update with What changed: each filter rule gains a "Show under All Inboxes" switch, off by default, beside "Count unread mail" in Settings → Accounts → Filters and in the Add Filter dialog. Folders of rules that opt in are listed in a collapsible "Filtered Folders" section inside All Inboxes, below the per-account inbox rows, each with a folder-and-funnel icon in its account's colour and its own unread count. Folded up, the heading shows the section's combined unread count. Settings → Sidebar gains a global "Filtered folders under All Inboxes" switch, on by default, that hides the section regardless of what the rules say. The beta channel catches up as 1.20.2-beta.1 (same code, no beta-only changes). |
Beta: 1.20.2-beta.1Catch-up release: the beta channel now matches stable 1.20.1. No beta-only changes. Update with |
1.20.2Stable 1.20.2 is out. Update with What changed: filter rules can be edited. Click a rule in Settings → Accounts → Filters (each row now carries a pencil beside its trash button) to open it in the filter dialog with every field filled in, and Save replaces the rule in place. The rule rows also have more room around the title and the stacked switches. The beta channel catches up as 1.20.3-beta.1 (same code, no beta-only changes). |
