Any experimentation with providing services as containers?

We're currently on our end trying to work out how to get podman (or another containerization solution) working within bazel's sandbox. Currently this looks like a bit of a lost cause (pending work in Bazel on allowing custom sandboxes), but regardless we're creating an in-house solution for running services that are rules_img-made containers.

This is more of a question than an issue, apologies.

https://github.com/jaqx0r/itestcontainer is what I built to solve this. It is not fully hermetic, and relies on external state -- plumb in the DOCKER_HOST env var or equivalent -- but you can use this to build service_test stacks that depend on container images or your own.
