Summary

  • Bump the wrapped Trivy library from v0.72.0 to v0.74.0 in go.mod (refreshed go.sum via go mod tidy).
  • Update the matching Trivy CLI version references in .circleci/config.yml (install_trivy_and_download_dbs and TRIVY_VERSION build arg) to keep the DB-download step and the built image on the same Trivy release.

Validation

  • go generate ./... && go test ./... — pass.
  • docker build --build-arg TRIVY_VERSION=0.74.0 -t codacy-trivy:latest . — succeeds (built locally with a populated Trivy DB cache and a freshly-generated OpenSSF malicious-packages index, matching the CircleCI pipeline steps).
  • docs/multiple-tests/*/results.xml fixtures regenerated via scripts/regenerate_fixtures.py against the new image — no diff, detection results are unchanged by this bump.
  • codacy-plugins-test run locally against the built image:
    • DockerTest json codacy-trivy:latest — all tests passed.
    • DockerTest multiple codacy-trivy:latest — all 7 multiple-test suites passed (secret, malicious-packages, vulnerability critical/high/medium/minor, all-patterns).
  • internal/docgen/rule.go unchanged, so docs/patterns.json / docs/description/* did not need regeneration.

Test plan

  • CI checks green on this PR

Updates the wrapped Trivy library in go.mod (with go.sum refreshed
via go mod tidy) and the matching Trivy CLI/build-arg references in
.circleci/config.yml.

Pull Request Overview

Codacy analysis is not up to standards because a newly resolved indirect dependency is affected by CVE-2026-53495, enabling node-level denial of service. Update containerd to a safe release and regenerate dependency metadata before merging.

Validation scenarios are missing for the dependency upgrade, CI database download, Docker build, and plugin detection. No complex uncovered files were identified.

Test suggestions

  • Verify the application builds and tests successfully with Trivy v0.74.0.
  • Verify CI installs Trivy v0.74.0 and downloads the database successfully.
  • Verify the Docker build passes with TRIVY_VERSION=0.74.0.
  • Verify plugin detection results remain unchanged across the documented test suites.
Prompt proposal for missing tests
Consider implementing these tests if applicable:
1. Verify the application builds and tests successfully with Trivy v0.74.0.
2. Verify CI installs Trivy v0.74.0 and downloads the database successfully.
3. Verify the Docker build passes with TRIVY_VERSION=0.74.0.
4. Verify plugin detection results remain unchanged across the documented test suites.
Low confidence findings
  • Add or report automated validation covering the dependency upgrade, CI database download, Docker build, and plugin detection scenarios.

Updates github.com/containerd/containerd/v2 from v2.3.3 to v2.3.5 to
fix a node-level DoS via CRI ExecSync goroutine leak flagged by
Codacy. go mod tidy also aligned containerd/platforms and the
k8s.io/client-go and k8s.io/component-base indirect deps.
